# CASE-V User Guide

CASE-V is a private gallery that 'keeps your photos and videos encrypted in iCloud'.  
Only you hold the keys, and they sync across iPhone and Mac with the same Apple ID.

# Before you start

Make sure you have the following:

- Signed in to 'iCloud' with your Apple ID
- 'iCloud Keychain' turned on (needed to store the encryption key)
- Enough iCloud 'storage'
- (For Hidden) Device 'biometrics' or 'device passcode'

> If you already use CASE-V on another device, wait until Keychain has finished syncing before you upload.

# Upload

1. Tap 'Upload' at the bottom.
2. Choose photos or videos.
   - 'iPhone': Pick from the Photos app
   - 'Mac': Drag and drop files, or click to choose
3. Files are encrypted, then uploaded to iCloud.

Notes
- Supported formats: jpg, png, heic, gif, webp, mov, mp4, and more
- Videos are limited to '1 GB max'
- Quitting the app during upload may stop the transfer.

# Sync

Loads your encrypted iCloud library.

- 'iPhone': Pull down to refresh
- 'Mac': 'Sync' button at the bottom

# Download

Saves selected items to your device.

- 'iPhone': Saves to the 'Photos' app (permission required)
- 'Mac': Saves to the 'Downloads' folder

# Delete

Choose 'More → Select', then delete, or delete from the item menu.  
Deletion removes the item from the cloud immediately and cannot be undone.

# Hidden

You can 'hide' items you don’t want others to see.

1. Select items, then 'Hide'
2. Top 'Filter → Show hidden files only'
3. Enter 'biometrics (or device passcode)' → '4-digit PIN'

- Set a PIN the first time.
- Hidden items do not appear in the normal list.
- Entering the wrong PIN shows an empty list.
- If 5 minutes have passed since the first failed attempt and you enter the wrong PIN again,
  a warning icon appears at the top and you can reset the password.

# Sort · Ratings

'Sort' by
- Date taken, upload date, file name, file size, rating
- Ascending / descending

'Ratings' (0–5) can be set at the top of the viewer and also appear in the gallery.

# Watching videos

- Play / pause, mute
- Move time with the '− / +' buttons (by the interval you set)
- Scrub with the seek bar
- Settings → 'Video seek step': 1 frame, 10 frames, 1–30 seconds, and more

Keyboard shortcuts (Mac)
- `⌘ ←` / `⌘ →`: about 1 second
- `⌘ ⌥ ←` / `⌘ ⌥ →`: 1 frame
- `⌘ +` / `⌘ −`: zoom in / out

# FAQ

'Upload isn’t working'  
Check iCloud sign-in, 'iCloud Keychain', storage space, and your network.

'Items don’t show on another device'  
Confirm you’re using the same Apple ID, then sync (pull to refresh / Sync button). Keychain sync may take a little time.

'I can’t see hidden files'  
Turn on 'Show hidden files only' in Filter, then confirm biometrics and the correct PIN.

'Download location is different'  
On iPhone, files go to Photos; on Mac, to the Downloads folder.
